A mother brings her 10 year old son to see me for sensory processing disorder. He's been coming in twice a week for about a month. When they came in yesterday they reported that they had gone to Costco. She usually avoids bringing him there because he feels stressed, frustrated and anxious when he goes in there. She said that he handled the situation really well and did not experience any of the old symptoms. Also, she said that someone bumped into him there. She said that usually this would have "set him off" into a rage, but yesterday he handled the accident in a very "mature fashion". Let's hear it for neuroplasticity! Dr. Merry
